You can find the answers to many questions and concerns in the Firetalk User Guide. To view the guide, open the Help menu, then click Firetalk Online Help, and follow the link to the User Guide.
The Firetalk Welcome menu appears when you first launch Firetalk. To see a quick tour of Firetalk's main features click Quick Start in the Firetalk Welcome menu.
If you can't find an answer to a question by using the Help menu or User Guide, please email us by clicking the Email Our Techies link located on the main Support page in the Firetalk Web site.
To call someone on Firetalk, you must add that person's name to your contacts list. Do this by opening the Contacts tab on the console and clicking the Add Other Firetalk Users to Your Contacts List button.
A telephone next to a name in your contact list indicates that person is online. No telephone and shaded letters indicate that person is offline. You can still send instant messages and leave voice messages for users who are offline.
To call or send messages to a contact who is online, you can click the phone icon next to the name, or double-click the name, then choose Call, Send Voice Mail, or Send Instant Message.
The participants list in your Call or Forum window shows who is currently connected to your call or forum. A speaker icon appears next to the name of the person speaking. The icon indicates the quality of the speaker's signal (red for poor, green for good, yellow for average).
To answer an incoming call click the Accept button on the Firetalk Pager or press ENTER on your keyboard.
To place a call on hold click the Hold button or press CTRL-O on the keyboard.
To hang up a call click the Hang Up button or press CTRL-H on the keyboard.
You can invite a user to an existing call or forum by dragging the name in your contact list to the participant list in the Call or Forum window.
Block the voice of anyone in the forum by right-clicking the name and then clicking Mute Participant or block all voice and text communications from anyone in the forum by right-clicking the name and then clicking Block Participant.
A pop-up text window enables you to exchange text messages with others in a call or forum. You can open the text window at any time by clicking the Text button in the Call or Forum window.
Push to Talk mode means participants in a call or forum must push the Talk button in the Call or Forum window in order to be heard. To use Push to Talk mode open the Tools menu on the Console, point to Options, then choose General. Select the Check the Use Push to Talk option.
When you are in Push to Talk mode, you can use the CONTROL key instead of pressing Talk button.
To send an instant message, double-click on a user's name in your contact list, then choose Send Instant Message.
To change your Firetalk password, open the tools menu, point to View, then choose Modify Profile. Note: You will need to enter your existing password to access the page.
To see personal information about a user, click the down arrow next to the name in your participant list, then choose View Info.
To view groups in your contact list, click the Enable Groups button on the Contacts tab of your console. To hide groups, click the Disable Groups button.
To invite someone you know to learn about Firetalk, click the Invite a Friend button on the Contacts tab from the Console.
Click the WWW button on the console to open your browser and navigate to Web sites where you can meet other Firetalk users and chat while you surf.
